To Hell With The Trends

In today’s day and age money and power define one’s life. Following the trends and being society’s golden child is as great as life could be… right? Today, brands control everyday life. From what you eat for breakfast, Cheerios or the Bargain Brand. Do I buy a Mercedes *crowd cheers* or a Honda *booing*. If you were society’s golden child you would surely have chosen some Cheerios and a nice, expensive, good looking, and expensive Mercedes. Even if you know you can’t afford it, you know it’s better than the self-imagined humiliation.

Has anyone bettered themselves through these trends? Let’s talk about Adidas, a company that brings in almost $18.76 annually. It is the biggest sportswear manufacturer in Europe and the second biggest globally. But you really don’t care about this, do you? You just want to see the newest and the best Yeezys. The founder Adolf Dassler was a soldier in WWI, after coming back home he decided to work with his dad in a shoe factory. He later realized he had a passion for making shoes and sta

rted to make his own shoes in his mom’s laundry shop. Later, he was joined by his brother Rudolf and they created Gebrüder Dassler Schuhfabrik (Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory). Eventually they worked together and created this huge success of a business it is #90 in the World’s Most Valuable Brands. However, to many of its consumers the history is irrelevant, as long as it has the Adidas logo it’s worth the money .Adolf Dazzler followed his dreams and passions and it took it him to his happy place.

I’m not saying that these huge brands are trash or that they are out to ruin the world. So don’t go crazy. I’m saying that consumers need to be more conscious when it comes to purchasing products.

What really happens

Is $60 Nike sweatshirt really better than a $30 Champion sweatshirt. They are both comfortable and they keep you warm, but… one is more socially accepted. Is it really worth the extra $30 to avoid the humiliation that YOU make yourself feel? It’s all based on your morals. Would you rather spend that $30 on that sweatshirt or on a gift for your special someone, picnic, or save it for a rainy day.

I am quite a hypocrite concerning this topic. I myself spend exorbent amounts of money on clothing, shoes, electronics, and other essential items. I wouldn’t be spending as much money if I went for the cheaper products, but… I don’t so…. What are you going to do? However, I still ask myself these essential questions, they have even in a few occasions stopped me from making a decision that even Miley Cyrus wouldn’t make. I am slowly realizing that society might deem me worthy, but I spend more time seeking approval than I do maintaining relationships with life long friends. It’s still not to late for me and for you. Go save those friendships, once they are gone they never come back.

It’s good to have money and the things that money can buy, but it’s good too, to check up once in a while and make sure that you haven’t lost the things that money can’t buy. –George Lorimer.

What good are objects if you don’t have anyone to use them with. It’s like buying a mansion and you’re the only one living in it. For the first few days you can’t believe that you have all THAT SPACE all TO YOURSELF! Then the loneliness starts to set in. What fun is money when you have no one to enjoy it with? Go find someone to make your life better, it doesn’t have to be a boyfriend or a girlfriend. It can be your parents, siblings, kids, friends, and even your pets as long as they make you smile. Money is jealous, it wants you all to itself. Don’t let it consume you. Find your passions and pursue them with someone you love. Good luck in your future endeavors. This is Anshul Gowda signing off.

Hard Truth

What makes you different?

I had a thought while I was going to school. I remember stepping into the car, my left leg and then following through with my left leg. As we were driving on Cardinal Rd, I saw these new houses being built. At that exact moment my mind thought something that would be frowned upon in todays society. I quote my thought, “I wonder how these white people are always able to flock together to create a white neighborhood.” I know many of you are frowning at me, maybe even emotions that go beyond that, but what I want you to understand that biases, stereotypes, and prejudice are all natural reactions to a stimulus in the environment. IT’S 100% NATURAL, after hearing what I have to say you will see these controversial terms in a new light.

Imagine you are a caveman living with your family. You love these fellow beings more than you could possibly communicate. You see a creature in the distance that has orange and black coloring with cat like features. You can tell it is running towards your cave that has your family in it. You also have a primitive bow and arrow near your feet. Would you pick up the bow and arrow and assume it’s a predator and kill it, or would you let the creature run down there and see what it does. If you didn’t choose the first one then I am seriously considering your humanity. The fact that you assumed that the creature was out to hurt your family is not necessarily bad, but I doubt the creature would agree with me. If this was a real life situation you might mourn the creatures death depending on what type of person you are, but you would certainly be relieved due to the fact that you thought you averted a crisis.

When you openly show someone your biases, prejudices, and stereotypes this is when people’s feelings are hurt. Again, I am not saying that these three topics are necessarily wrong, but it is better to keep these things to yourself. For example, would you act differently around a black man and a white man. Most of you would act differently whether it be flaunting your wealth, keeping your distance, gossip, even small things such as staring could show your prejudice, stereotypes, and biases. This again will hurt someone morally and it should also hurt you knowing that you hurt another person.

Just be careful about what you say to others, because by treating people with fairness and equality you can show your love and appreciation. And just maybe you might make a new friend.

Education… why bother?

We’ve all come to that point where we feel as though education is more of a burden than a gift. Many people see this as a first-world problem, and it is a because education is so hard to come across in third world countries. Should we take our education for granted? All will be answered shortly.

When you picture education, tons of homework, nasty teachers, and long grueling days are what usually come up first in your mind. These things are all the cons of education. They might seem largely more important than the pros of education, but in reality they aren’t. Education is a hard thing to come across for much of the youth across the planet. Many of us are lucky for public schools, because without them we to would not have the knowledge we have today Many kids in third-world countries can’t afford to buy the pencils that we so often take for granted. You can find one in the back of your backpack, inside the couch, and even under your mattress. Our mentality today, makes it more easy for us to forget the hardships that other people face, just because we cannot see them. Hundreds and maybe even thousands of miles away, there are people who instead of spending 7 hours at school, spend those 7 hours fetching water from a far away river. If they had the education many of us are getting they could decrease their chances of being unemployed in the future. This would in turn make life better for their children and their children’s children and so forth. Sadly, most of the kids across the planet don’t get this schooling and probably never will. So feel lucky, because you have secured a role in the future all because you were taught addition in 1st grade.

Have you ever kept your mouth shut around the “smart ones” or “the intelligent ones.” Well consider doing that everyday of your life. That is what happens to the unfortunate people who have not received an education. They must keep their heads down and follow the orders and take the BS of the “smart ones”. Having an education really does open new doors. The chance of getting a job increases, the chance of your kids increases, an even the chance of your grandchildren getting a job increases. If everyone was able to receive an education we would be a able to hear the opinions of all people. Regardless of their race, ethnicity, age, sexuality, or wealth. This would level the playing field and allow us to hear the voices of the oppressed. The people that never had the opportunity to speak up now have a voice in our growing world.

Money drives our world. Money is simply a game,Image result for stylish monoply it requires intelligence, patience, and a good deal of luck. The ones we can control are smarts and patience. However, these days it seems that we might not be able to control intelligence. For example, there are two players playing a chess. One of the players is an impatient 5 year old that just started school. The other player is a patient middle aged man who has finished school and is supporting a family. Who do you think will win? I’m guessing and hoping that you said the patient middle aged man, and most people will say the patient middle aged man. The reason being is that they feel more confident placing their bets on someone who has the THREE CHARACTERISTICS that I mentioned earlier. Does it still not makes sense? I’ll try this, was Rome built single handedly? I think not. It is also exactly the same thing when it comes to business. To either start your own business or expand your business you need an investor, someone who is willing to help you along. This investor needs to find confidence in placing a LARGE sum of money in your name. Most investors prefer investing on someone who has the THREE CHARACTERISTICS. I’m not trying to impersonate Tai Lopez, but take my word education and money go hand in hand. There might be a few odd billionaires or millionaires who dropped out of college, but if you want to play it safe take my word EDUCATION, EDUCATION, EDUCATION!

Why do we let money control us?

As you may have already known. Money plays a crucial part in 21st century life. There is no greater accomplishment than to acquire more then enough money. Someone with money is at the top of every aspect of our social ladder. No matter what they might say, do, or think. They are the gods of us living mortals until they are replaced by a wealthier man. Why has this become what it has become? What are we to make of it? Should we try and change it? In time your questions shall be answered.

Let’s take a look back in time. Even back in the olden days there was always something that made a specific person or group of people “more important” than the others. Maybe it might have been who had the most food, the heaviest, the best looking, the better looking wife, and you could even say who had the better looking pimple. It is in human nature to differentiate ourselves from the others. We might do this positively by expressing our feelings in a certain craft. Which includes painting, hunting, sports, science, literature, and others.Image result for stone ageI myself have created this blog to differentiate myself from the masses. There is also a negative way to differentiate yourself. This is by pointing out someone else’s flaws and using them to let all the light fall on you. As unhappy as I am to say this, humans are the least willing to change and adapt. Humans would rather destroy their own brethren than to accept and move past their differences. Money has a way by bringing this bad side out in people. The wealthier try to make themselves seem different, more important, than the common folk. This can lead to catastrophic effects. Since power has been known to a be a childhood friend of money.

Humans are greedy. That is a fact, no matter what you say, how you try to argue it. Humans are greedy! We have all been that one guy in the grocery store who goes and gets Image result for greedone sample and then comes back for seconds, thirds, and maybe even fourths No matter what you have to say we are greedy. That is why we are drawn to money, because with money comes the false promises of safety and love. This force that draws us to money also draws us towards people with large amounts of wealth, because we feel as though they will quench our greedy throats. This leads to a battle to win their favor, whether that be by supporting their decisions, creating a shrine, or trying to slide into their DMs every other day. This need to win their favor can lead perfectly fine human beings to doing the unthinkable. It has led people to abandon their values and principles in seek of this materialistic satin, money. We don’t see people, we see what they have in their pockets.

Money is a mysterious thing, and will we ever know how it works? Just make sure that you take the time to understand a person. Instead of making judgements based on money all willy nilly. Money can be a dangerous weapon in the hands of a wrong man, but if wielded correctly you can forge new alliances. Take my advice and you might be able to be as great as me.
